Phase 2 construction for Grandview Kids is underway at 1461 Harwood Avenue North, in Ajax. With crane installation in March 2023, the project is well under way towards its targeted completion in fall 2024.

We are pleased to read of the success of Coquitlam’s Red Fish Healing Centre for Mental Health and Addictions―in only 18 months of operation.  A Health Canada study of the facility determined that 9 out of 10 patients experienced successful recoveries, from a psychiatric perspective.

The Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) 2023 Conference will take place in Sudbury from June 21 to 23.  For the first time, the OAA is holding its annual conference at the gateway to Northern Ontario.  The setting prompts new opportunities for conversations and collaboration with local communities about the role architects play in supporting dignity.

A construction contract has been awarded to Arctic Fresh https://arcticfresh.ca/, partnered with Penn-Co Construction Ltd https://www.penn-co.com/, for additions and renovations at Sakku School in Coral Harbour, Nunavut.  The team is excited to see construction start, following years of planning, design, and valuable community consultation sessions.

Royal Inland Hospital (RIH), located in Kamloops BC, is one of two tertiary referral hospitals in Interior Heath.  RIH offers high-level, specialty medical care including core physician specialties, 24-hour emergency and trauma services, ambulatory and outpatient clinics, and diagnostic services.

On May 8 and 9, 2023, the Canadian Centre for Healthcare Facilities (CCHF) will host a conference at the Burnaby Hotel and Conference Centre in British Columbia. The CCHF has planned an agenda that shares recent transformations in innovating healing environments across several health environments, including LTC, complex care children/adults, and hospitals.

Our special appreciation goes to the five women who courageously stepped forward and shared their personal experiences and perspectives about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through their lenses.
