About
The South Niagara Hospital (SNH) project represents a pivotal development in the healthcare landscape of Niagara Falls, Ontario, as it emerges as an integral component of Niagara Health’s comprehensive healthcare system. The hospital’s location ensures convenient access for residents across the region. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to centralize healthcare services from existing facilities, streamlining patient access and improving overall healthcare experiences. With a primary focus on enhancing well-being, the project embodies a commitment to fostering healthier communities.
At its core, the South Niagara Hospital will function as a full acute care hospital, equipped with a comprehensive range of services to address emergent, diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical needs. The facility will feature a 24/7 emergency department alongside medical, surgical, and intensive care inpatient beds, ensuring continuous access to critical healthcare services. Additionally, the hospital will offer ambulatory services and post-acute Complex Continuing Care (CCC) inpatient services, catering to diverse healthcare requirements across different stages of patient recovery. The establishment of Centers of Excellence specializing in stroke, complex care, and wellness in aging, underscores the hospital’s commitment to delivering specialized care tailored to the unique needs of its patient population.
Innovation lies at the heart of the South Niagara Hospital project, with a steadfast commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology seamlessly into healthcare delivery. By leveraging technological advancements, the hospital aims to enhance the quality of care while ensuring patients remain at the forefront of the healing process. Embracing a patient-eric approach, the hospital design creates an environment where technology fades into the background, allowing patients to focus on their journey to recovery and healing. With its emphasis on innovation, accessibility, and patient-centered care, the South Niagara Hospital project signifies a significant leap forward in advancing healthcare delivery and promoting well-being in the Niagara community. SNH will be consistent with the Ministry of Health’s high standards for patient and family-centered care, incorporating principles of senior-friendly design, accessibility, and infection prevention and control. It will meet the Canada Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standards. In addition, the project will be working towards being the first WELL®-certified healthcare facility in Canada focused on the health and well-being of staff, physicians, volunteers, patients, families, caregivers, and the Niagara community.
