Winners for Camp Couchiching “Windsurf Pavilion” Competition

Parkin is pleased to announce the winners of the Camp Couchiching “Windsurf Pavilion” competition.  We congratulate all participants on their creativity and consideration of design and aesthetics, sustainability, functionality, affordability, and constructability.

1st place, Josh Vitez

2nd place, Michael Lam

3rd place, David Avella

The design competition, loosely called the ‘Windsurf Pavilion’, was intended to refurbish the existing windsurfing program area, including ‘the Yacht Club’ (storage shed), multi- purpose outdoor instruction/gathering places, with storage facilities for windsurf boards and sails. Other water-based programs— including canoeing, tripping, kayaking, SUP (stand up paddle board) and swimming—are accommodated elsewhere at the camp.

Jurors included: “Jen Dundas, Executive Director for the camp and David Hargrave-Pawson, former Windsurf Program Head and brother of late camp alumni member and windsurfer Dean Hargrave-Pawson were on the competition Jury with architects from Parkin Toronto and Ottawa offices.”

Jury quote: “Designs were unique, creative, innovative, inspiring and well presented.  The intent of the competition was very well addressed.”
