What is Your Water Footprint?

Have you ever considered the water footprint of the products you use or the foods you eat? The volume of freshwater used in the lifecycle or production of a food or product is called virtual-water content. This takes into account the volumes of water consumed and polluted over its full production chain.

For example, due to cotton being a water-intensive crop, one pair of jeans has a virtual-water content of 11,000 litres!

March 22nd is International World Water Day; and as we continue to challenge ourselves, and the community, to find more ways to build and live with sustainability in mind, virtual water will become a larger part of the conversation.
