The Waterloo Memorial Recreation Centre (WMRC) $30 million expansion and retrofit is expected to achieve energy and greenhouse gas efficiency improvements that will surpass the benchmarks set by the Ontario Building Code.
The next expansion/retrofit will begin early in 2020 and be completed in two years’ time. It will consist of a new 16,000 SF civic front and a 28,000 SF new pavilion.
The massive recreational complex, west of Uptown in the City of Waterloo, currently hosts the Sun Life Arena, a 4,132-seat, multi-purpose arena with Olympic-size ice rink.
Construction bid documents have been issued and the City expects to be able to announce a winning bid, in due course. For more details on this green targeted facility, click on:
