Niagara Falls, July 18, 2023 – The Parkin team proudly participated in the momentous groundbreaking ceremony of the South Niagara Hospital, a truly groundbreaking event that underscores its paramount importance for the community. This marks a significant milestone in the region, as construction commences on the state-of-the-art facility, generating palpable excitement among Niagara residents.
Situated in Niagara Falls, the South Niagara Hospital holds immense significance as it addresses the healthcare needs of the rapidly growing and aging population in the area. Boasting centers of excellence in complex care, wellness in aging, and stroke, the hospital is designed to cater to the evolving requirements of the community. This groundbreaking marks a pivotal step towards providing convenient care close to home for generations to come.
The ceremony was attended by nearly 300 distinguished guests, including donors, elected officials, Indigenous partners, and community representatives, all of whom played instrumental roles in bringing this long-awaited project to fruition. Their unwavering support highlights the unity and dedication that have made this groundbreaking reality.
The 12-storey South Niagara Hospital will be a beacon of comprehensive healthcare services, featuring 469 single patient bedrooms, eight operating suites, 42 hemodialysis stations, and two MRI machines. Notably, the facility aspires to become the first WELL-certified hospital in Canada, placing a strong emphasis on the health and well-being of staff and physicians. Moreover, it will include an Indigenous healing space and garden, creating a culturally safe and welcoming environment for all.
