Taloyoak students look ahead to a new high school opening this fall

Good news for Taloyoak’s New High School, construction on the community’s new high school remains on track, and the Government of Nunavut says classes are expected to begin in the $87‑million building this fall. For students, it means the chance to leave behind the aging, overcrowded Netsilik School and step into a space designed for learning today.

What’s happening: The new Taloyoak high school is in the final stretch of construction, with an opening planned for the start of the school year.

Why it matters: More space can help relieve crowding and give students an environment that better supports classes, programs, and day-to-day school life.

What’s next: As the fall start date approaches, families and staff will be watching for updates on readiness, move-in plans, and the first day schedule.
