Parkin Architects is proud to share that the Surrey Memorial Hospital Critical Care Tower in Surrey, British Columbia, is now featured on Archinect. This transformative eight-storey expansion, commissioned by Fraser Health Authority, was designed to address the demands of a rapidly growing community.
The project introduces specialized healthcare units, including expanded neonatal intensive care, stroke, and intensive care services. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) capacity doubled, integrating Canada’s first neonatal and pediatric pharmacy. Upgrades to the High Acuity Unit and Intensive Care Unit increased capacity to 25 beds each, ensuring critical care for those who need it most.
With a focus on patient-centered care, over 80% of rooms are single-patient, enhancing privacy and infection control. Additionally, approximately 20% of rooms feature advanced airflow systems for heightened infection prevention.
