On December 1st, Parkin’s Ottawa staff joined in the Salvation Army’s 28th annual 5kms Fun-Run to help fight poverty, homelessness and hunger this Christmas. Each year, the Salvation Army teams up with the Running Room sporting goods store to host the Santa Shuffle in communities across Canada. This year, the event took place in 38 locations. Seventeen percent of Ottawa residents presently live in poverty. Parkin was among the 1500 people from the Ottawa community who participated in raising money and awareness for those in need.
