Robert Boraks stepping down as Parkin Director

After 21 years of service to Parkin, and consistent with Parkin’s commitment to leadership renewal, Robert Boraks is stepping down as Director and employee. Notwithstanding this transition, Robert will continue to work for the firm as a consultant, providing his expertise and passion to all of the efforts he undertakes . “I am committed to Parkin. The work we do is important, exciting, and fulfilling. I am looking forward to supporting our clients and staff well into the future”.

Robert’s career has been focused on the delivery of social architecture. He has a broad knowledge of architectural typologies which encompasses justice, acute care hospitals, mental health hospitals, schools, universities, laboratories, and Aboriginal/First Nation facilities.

He managed Parkin’s office in Ottawa since it opened in 2003 and was a Parkin Director since 2012. Robert has developed Parkin into a world-renowned leader in the design of Justice and Northern facilities. His work has garnered numerous international design awards including the American Institute of Architects/AAJ Citation for Design Excellence. He has acted as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Guelph School of Landscape Architecture and is presently an Adjunct Professor at Carleton University’s Azrieli School of Architecture.  He has served on a number of regulatory boards including the Niagara Escarpment Commission and the Ontario Heritage Foundation (now the Ontario Heritage Trust). Robert is also a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada.

Robert is looking forward to supporting recently appointed Principal, Richard Huot, in his leadership of the Ottawa team.
