Release of the Family-Centred Maternity and Newborn Care: National Guidelines Chapter 8

We are pleased to share the release of Public Health Agency of Canada’s (PHAC) Chapter 8: Organization of Services and the Epilogue of the updated Family-Centred Maternity and Newborn Care: National Guidelines on August 10, 2022. The guidelines are dedicated to improving and creating consistency in maternal and newborn health and to inform evidence-based practice across Canada. The aim of the guidelines is to positively impact health from preconception to postpartum, and throughout the life course of children and families.

Parkin Principal, Lynne Wilson Orr was a contributing author; she was pleased to contribute her expertise to the new standard. It defines new standards for maternal newborn facilities in Canada. Lynne quotes, “It was an honor to have a specific call-out in the standard for the Women’s Hospital in Winnipeg, our project completed in joint venture with A49.”
