Red Fish Healing Centre for Mental Health and Addiction Featured on Rethinking The Future

We are thrilled to announce that the Red Fish Healing Centre for Mental Health and Addiction has been featured on Rethinking The Future, a platform that celebrates global architectural excellence.

Designed by Parkin Architects, the Red Fish Healing Centre is believed to be the first large-scale facility in North America dedicated to treating concurrent disorders of mental health and addiction. The Centre offers an innovative approach, blending recovery-focused programming, trauma-informed care, family therapy, and First Nations cultural elements.

At the heart of the facility is the Hummingbird Room, a healing space co-designed with the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) First Nation. This sacred room supports traditional indoor smudging practices, vital to clients’ healing journeys. Lined with cedar, it features a medicine wheel and a mural created by a local Indigenous artist, symbolizing the Centre’s commitment to holistic and culturally connected care.
