During these unprecedented times, our professional efforts have been even more geared towards contributing to a better future for all humankind. In past years, Parkin has assembled holiday gift baskets for our clients as an expression of gratitude for their support and professional relationships. This year, we have decided to replace the gesture with a donation to one of our new Northern Schools in Nunavut.
Kinngait, Nunavut’s Peter Pitseolak Secondary School replaces the former school which was destroyed in a fire in 2015, a tragedy that profoundly affected the entire community and region. The educational facility in Kinngait lost most of its resources-many irreplaceable cultural artifacts and historical accounts.
Parkin’s donation is to fund the purchase of books from the Fountas & Pinnell LLI Teal Kit, which is the primary resource for the school’s reading intervention program. The Teal Kit benefits the school’s emergent readers as it spans a wide range of reading levels with appealing titles for its teen students. The Kit is not only a practical resource for students; it will also assist new teachers who are beginning to implement their instruction practice in reading.
Parkin is pleased to partake in Nunavut’s Peter Pitseolak Secondary School’s reading program.
