We’re excited to announce that the Rankin Inlet Men’s Healing Facility, designed by Parkin Architects in collaboration with Accutech Engineering Inc., is currently featured on Rethinking The Future.
This culturally responsive facility includes a 32-bed medium-security unit and a 16-bed minimum-security unit, along with program rooms, a gymnasium, chapel, staff offices, kitchen, medical and segregation units, and admitting/discharge areas.
Rooted in traditional Inuit values, the design emphasizes healing, community integration, and restorative justice rather than punitive approaches. Its curvilinear form reflects the surrounding landscape and rests on steel piles to address the challenges of building on permafrost.
