We’re proud to be featured in the Spring 2025 issue of Canadian Healthcare Facilities with the article Preparedness: Beyond Borders, co-authored by Kyle Basilius (Parkin), Meagan Webb (H.H. Angus and Associates), and Troy Savage (Mazzetti).
The article explores Initiate2, an innovative initiative by the WHO and World Food Programme (WFP) designed to enhance global readiness for infectious disease outbreaks. This effort is supported by volunteer partners from the International Federation of Healthcare Engineering (IFHE), including WHO Téchne, Parkin Architects, H.H. Angus, Carleton University, Mazzetti, LS3P, and the University of Toronto.
Launched in 2021, Initiate2 focuses on developing technical innovations—such as medical facilities, temporary installations, and disease-specific laboratories—while also providing training and simulations to strengthen emergency response. Based at the UN Humanitarian Response Depot in Italy, it brings together humanitarian organizations, UN agencies, research institutions, and industry experts to create standardized solutions for global health crises.
We’re honored to contribute to this vital conversation on infectious disease preparedness.
