Parkin Director Mark Michasiw shifts to Principal role

After 25 years with Parkin, Mark Michasiw has stepped down from his role as Director. Mark will continue to work for Parkin Architects in the role of Principal, providing his expertise and leadership across all of his current and upcoming projects.

We are delighted to have Mark’s continued support and commitment. Mark Michasiw has played a senior leadership role in many aspects of practice, design, client relations, and problem solving. Of his 40 years practicing architecture, over half of his career has focused on healthcare design, relishing the challenges posed by one of architecture’s most challenging specialties. Mark offers significant experience in all aspects of project development, from feasibility studies, programming, master planning through detailed design, construction documentation and implementation.

His involvement in numerous forms of project delivery, (including 10 years in Design-Build, Build-Finance and DBFM models), has reinforced Mark’s knowledge base of various delivery methods. Mark’s expertise includes clinical planning for key departments such as Emergency, Ambulatory Care, ICU/CCU, Interventional Radiology and Surgical Suite.

Mark has also worked on various mental health projects including Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and Restigouche Hospital Centre.  His experience with Interventional Radiology is exampled by his involvement in Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie and most recently the Brain and Heart Project at St. Michael’s Hospital. His work in Eastern Canada has been highly recognized in Upper River Valley Hospital, Saint John Regional Hospital and Restigouche Hospital Centre, Campbellton, NB, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, PEI and various projects in Nova Scotia including; Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Glace Bay Hospital, South Shore Regional Hospital and Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Emergency Department Planning projects have also formed part of Mark’s portfolio – Cape Breton Regional, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Saint John Regional Hospital, Upper River Valley Hospital and Aberdeen Hospital.

Mark’s focus remains the delivery of excellent design of complex projects with top-level service to Parkin clients and the institutions they represent.
