Parkin celebrates Royal Columbian Hospital’s Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower reaching substantial completion!

Parkin is proud to share that the Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower has reached substantial completion—a major milestone in the Royal Columbian Hospital Redevelopment Project.

This cutting-edge facility will soon enhance care delivery with increased capacity, advanced technologies, and an improved environment for both patients and healthcare teams. As we prepare for opening, efforts are now focused on a smooth and successful transition.

Key Highlights:

  • Patient-Centered Design: The new tower is designed with patients in mind, offering more beds, private rooms, and advanced equipment and technology to enhance comfort and care.
  • Ten Floors of Clinical Services: These include a wide range of programs to support acute care delivery in a modernized environment.
  • Expanded Emergency Department: A 75-bay emergency department with a satellite medical imaging unit will improve response times and patient flow.
  • Surgical and Interventional ‘Superfloor’: Equipped with new operating rooms and two dedicated maternity operating rooms to support complex procedures and maternal care.
  • Tertiary Care and Level 1 Trauma Centre: RCH is one of only two Level 1 Trauma Centres in British Columbia.

The hospital includes critical care and maternal newborn ‘superfloors,’ consolidating essential services to improve outcomes and efficiency.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone contributing to the future of healthcare at Royal Columbian Hospital — including our partners delivering the project for Fraser Health Authority: EllisDon and HDR.
