Opened in May 2019, the new 4,300 SF Learning Centre supports multidisciplinary healthcare training and education initiatives at the hospital. Occupying shelled-in hospital space on the lower level of PRHC, the Learning Centre provides much needed classroom and education space, with flexible spaces and state-of-the-art audio visual equipment. A central crush space has comfortable seating areas with individual touch-down spaces to augment the meeting spaces, ensuring staff can stay in contact with their departments during education sessions. The large meeting room has a seating capacity of 100 people which can be converted into two smaller meeting room spaces. The dedicated clinical training area has a wide range of state-of-the-art training tools and equipment in a simulated patient-care environment. In addition, it is equipped with sophisticated information technology tools and services for clinical and support service training. Multi-stall washrooms and a kitchenette allow for the provision of food service and snacks for attendees. Interior finishes are contemporary and warm while also meeting infection prevention and control standards.
