September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a time to honour Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize the lasting impacts on families and communities.
At Parkin, we recognize that reconciliation requires more than acknowledgment. It calls for ongoing learning, listening, relationship-building, and action. As designers, we have a responsibility to understand the histories of the lands and communities in which we work and to approach our work with humility, respect, and care.
Today, we encourage our team, collaborators, and communities to make space for reflection, learn from Indigenous voices and experiences, and consider how each of us can contribute to the ongoing work of truth and reconciliation.
