Parkin Architects is elated to announce the election of Mario Pistone as a Director of the Board. With 25 years of experience at Parkin and expertise in a wide variety of project types and delivery models, Mario brings a wealth of innovation and crucial knowledge to our ongoing succession strategy.
Mario began his career at Parkin in 1997 as a co-op student from the University of Waterloo, where he graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Environmental Studies and Bachelor of Architecture. Mario’s abundant leadership skills and dedication promoted him through various roles of responsibility at the firm, rising sequentially through positions of Intern Architect, Associate, Vice President, Principal and now Director. Throughout his career at Parkin, he has gained robust experience in various project types, including urban and community design, healthcare, recreation, and justice facilities.
Mario’s passion for architecture is grounded in creating positive and enduring social change. He brings an innovative approach to his work, having introduced 3D printing, virtual reality, algorithmic design, and artificial intelligence to Parkin’s project workflows. He oversees projects of all sizes and provides continuity and close involvement at every stage, from the project kick-off meeting to the final warranty inspection. Clients and stakeholders appreciate his approachability, openness, and congeniality that encourage them to share ideas and shape the vision of their facility.
Mario has made significant contributions to Parkin’s excellence in design, including projects such as Grandview Children’s Treatment Centre, Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Southlake Regional Health Centre, and various police training facilities. These projects demonstrate his success in both creating enduring social change and applying innovative approach to incorporating cutting-edge technologies into design workflows.
As both a Director and shareholder at Parkin, Mario will continue to lead the exploration and implementation of new technologies in the development and communication of architecture. He also contributes to several committees and task groups, including those for contract administration, and research and development. His role includes the development of software and database solutions to support contract administrators and manage operations.
We are excited to support Mario in his role as a Director, Resource Group Lead, and contributor to the Finance, Operations, and People + Culture sectors of the business. Mario’s commitment, integrity, accountability, and leadership skills make him an excellent addition to Parkin’s Board of Directors.
