Kinngait’s new community health centre opened on August 3, 2021 and hosted a celebration on September 7, 2021 with several of Nunavut’s ministers and community members.
Designed and built with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (traditional knowledge) in mind, the 1792m2, $33 million facility features large open spaces and abundant windows.
When it comes to providing healthcare services to Kinngairmiut, it is “much easier” in comparison to the old health centre, says Michael Blake, nurse-in-charge at the Kinngait Health Centre, while giving a tour of the new facility. For more local quotes, click here.
