Exciting developments are underway at École Des Trois-Soleils (ETS) in Iqaluit as the project nears completion for the upcoming school year. The Commission scolaire francophone du Nunavut (CFSN) is proud to support a complete K-12 program within the existing school, with expansion plans in place.
Originally established in 2001 as a primary school, ETS has grown to accommodate vital program spaces for physical activities and specialized high school classrooms. However, to access a high school curriculum, current francophone students have been attending classes at the existing Inukshuk High School.
The new expansion aims to bridge this gap by creating a direct connection to the existing school. Notable additions include a state-of-the-art gymnasium complex with support facilities, a dedicated high school classroom wing featuring specialty trades classrooms, and a vibrant student commons area. The inclusion of the high school gymnasium and stage adds a versatile asset to the community, offering numerous possibilities for use.
As the shipping season begins in July, anticipation fills the communities throughout Nunavut. Critical project materials and supplies will be delivered from July through October, paving the way for an active construction phase in August. The team is committed to finalizing interior work to ensure the new High School and Daycare are ready to welcome students for the new school year.
The project holds immense significance for ETS and the francophone community of Nunavut, marking a promising new chapter in their educational journey.
