
Construction for the highly anticipated $83 million Durham Regional Police Services – Phase 2 project is currently in full swing. The project is set to increase the original 26-acre Durham Regional Police Services site to 36-acres. Upon completion, the total complex will include the existing Phase 1 (17-acres) and new Phase 2 (19-acres) marking a significant expansion.
In this phase, two new crucial buildings are taking shape – the Regional Support Centre (RSC) and the Center for Investigative Excellence (CFIE), boasting a combined floor area of nearly 17,000 sq.m. These buildings are poised to become essential hubs for specialized police services, providing comprehensive support to the entire Region.
Here’s a brief overview of the ongoing construction activities:
Site Works:
- Ongoing site servicing activities, including geothermal systems and concrete curb roadwork.
Center for Investigative Excellence Building (CFIE):
- Significant progress has been made with structural steel, concrete floors, walls, and exterior sheathing.
- Upcoming work includes interior masonry, interior framing, interior concrete, and miscellaneous metals.
Regional Support Centre Building (RSC):
- Concrete footings and foundation walls have been successfully completed, and the steel structure is currently in progress.
