A New Beacon of Hope for Taloyoak

Now complete, Pangniq High School in Taloyoak, Nunavut is the territory’s newest educational facility, with design led by Parkin Senior Associate Justin Leclair.

Shaped through meaningful Indigenous engagement with community members and developed in collaboration with Accutech Engineering, the school’s design reflects the importance of communal space within educational environments and reinforces the school’s role as a place for learning, gathering, and community connection. Material choices, access to natural views, and abundant daylight come together to create a welcoming, multifunctional setting designed to support students, staff, and the broader community for years to come.

The school was also featured in a CBC video, which described the completed building as “a beacon of hope for the community” and offers additional footage and a closer look inside.
