Parkin’s Toronto team recently brought accessibility and inclusive design into focus through an interactive Accessibility in Action workshop, which was featured on Global News Toronto.
Led by Parkin’s Accessibility Advisors Anika Abdullah and Ryan Bui, the workshop combined a guided neighbourhood walk with a collaborative discussion to explore how design decisions shape people’s everyday experiences of the built environment. Designers examined accessibility features and barriers along the route, including sidewalks, crossings, entrances, wayfinding, public spaces, and interior workplace environments.
The session offered practical insight into how thoughtful, people-centred design can support dignity, independence, and belonging for people of all ages, abilities, identities, and backgrounds. Through real-world examples and open discussion, the workshop reinforced Parkin’s commitment to advancing accessibility not only as a compliance requirement, but as a core part of creating inclusive, equitable environments.
Thank you to our Accessibility Team and all participants for helping make this important conversation visible. Watch Parkin’s accessibility advisors and team in action on Global News.
