Grandview Kids—the Children’s Treatment Centre of Durham Region is now featured on Archinect, recognizing the project’s contribution to inclusive, community-focused design.

Located in Ajax, Ontario, the 94,000 sq. ft. facility brings together a wide range of pediatric therapy and support services under one roof, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, autism services, and family support programs. The integrated model improves access to care while fostering collaboration among clinicians, families, and community partners.

The design centres on creating a welcoming, accessible, and engaging environment for children of all abilities. Daylighting, intuitive wayfinding, and a warm material palette support comfort and ease of navigation, while specialized therapy spaces and sensory-sensitive environments respond to diverse user needs. Public and community areas—including a teaching kitchen, playground, and hydrotherapy pool, extend the building’s reach beyond clinical care to create a true community hub.
Grandview Kids reflects a strong commitment to accessibility, inclusivity, and dignity in care, demonstrating how thoughtful design can support better outcomes for children and their families.
