Despite the Pandemic, construction of the long-awaited new health centre is progressing well. The Kinngait (meaning: Mountains) Health Centre will be one of the first in the eastern artic communities to provide a mental health safe-room environment, delivering safety and comfort to those in need. The facility will contain: a tuberculosis unit; new and improved clinics; maternity, child and adult treatment services; diagnostic and emergency care spaces; dental clinic; ambulatory care clinics; and a variety of outreach community services.
Steps away from the existing facility it replaces, the new building blends with the rocky terrain and maximizes healing views of Foxe Basin’s magnificent landscape. It will feature artwork for local artists as part of the interior finishes and conforms to the latest of health care standards in facility layout, infection prevention control, and safety.
