CHEO Medical Imaging EOS developed for orthopedic imaging

The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) is now equipped to provide EOS orthopedic imaging, the main feature of which is 3D visualization of the vertebral column and/or lower limbs of the patient. It delivers acquisition of images while the patient is in an upright, seated or squatting position, and can image the full length of the body (up to 175 cm), removing the need for digital stitching. Because of its low radiation dose, EOS imaging is a safe option for children with progressive conditions, such as scoliosis and other spinal deformities that require frequent imaging to monitor disease progression.

Parkin provided solutions for integrating the new diagnostic imaging equipment within a vacated X-Ray room. Dental X-rays had already been functioning in this room―and were required to remain. Parkin was instructed to maintain current space boundaries and provide code-compliant solutions.  The revised space improves work flow and future flexibility within the control room.
