New Facility
The David Braley Cardiac, Vascular, and Stroke Research Institute is a new 184,000 square foot, translational sciences facility located at the Hamilton General Hospital site as part of the Master Plan for Hamilton Health Sciences. The building will bring together two internationally renowned institutions focusing on cardiac, vascular and thrombosis research, as well as population health research programs that serve the needs of patients with cardiovascular diseases and the related complications. Comprised of 6 levels, the building program includes Population Health, Fundamental Research Labs, and a state-of-the-art Vivarium Facility, each designed to encourage open and ongoing collaboration between the different components on a clinical, educational, and research basis. A central light well containing interactive hubs will provide the opportunity for interaction throughout the various levels, while making use of natural day lighting as one of the many energy-saving strategies employed in the design of this innovative research facility.
