British Columbia Cancer Agency | Genome Sequencing Laboratory

Renovation
The centre wanted to alter the interior of its existing medical laboratories to accommodate a new genome sequencing laboratory. The project, which entailed the renovation of 9,000 sq. ft. of laboratory space, incorporated a phased approach to ensure all programs remained functional throughout construction. Parkin began by creating a temporary laboratory space to allow early start-up for the new centre. The new facility features an open, wet laboratory area that was specifically designed to maximize flexibility for the research scientists. Design elements include a customized modular furniture system of tables, reagent shelving and mobile under-the-table storage units.
