Renovation
This renovation project of existing inpatient units was undertaken
to accommodate an obstetrics unit, as well as the relocation and
expansion of the centre's neo-natal intensive care unit (NICU).
Extensive family support and individual areas are provided for
each infant. Infant care areas consist of four pods for ten babies
each, four private rooms, three isolation rooms and central support
areas. Non-patient care areas are located adjacent to the NICU to
reduce noise and traffic, while staff support areas are strategically
placed away from public circulation. The North America's Society of
Critical Care Medicine, ICU Design Citation Award was bestowed on
this project to acknowledge its excellence.
