New Facility
In order to accommodate growing operations and specialized police requirements, the York Regional police determined to consolidate four leased locations into a stand alone Investigative and Support Services Facility. Designed to accommodate staff growth to 2015, the building comprises 210,000 sq.ft. on 4 levels. Parking for 640 cars and emergency response vehicles is to be accommodated in a 3 level parking structure and adjacent surface lots. Site security is achieved by a fenced compound while building access is controlled and monitored by a state-of-the-art electronic security system. Designed to a LEED Silver standard, the design incorporates energy efficient mechanical and electrical systems including emergency generators able to ensure full building continuous operation. A three storey atrium allows for deep penetration of natural light while external solar screens shade the south and west elevations.
