Parkin's capabilities cover the full spectrum of corrections facilities. Our projects have included maximum-security prisons, secure psychiatric hospitals and lower-security police headquarters. The designs we deliver address the diverse needs of the stakeholders involved, from staff and inmates to the government and community. In addition, our extensive knowledge of legislative requirements allows us to ensure compliance with the complex regulations involved.

Corrections facilities design must balance the need for security with staff comfort and inmate rehabilitation. Parkin creates designs that incorporate operational efficiencies and progressive floor plans to help increase security, while improving staff utilization. At the same time, we integrate design features, such as natural light, to enhance conditions for staff and inmates.

Many corrections facilities were built decades ago. We have successfully retrofitted older and historically-designated buildings, and brought them up to current codes and appropriate security levels. We have also been involved in the design of new, state-of-the-art facilities, including one of Ontario's "super jails", which incorporates the most advanced technologies available.
