The Hospital for Sick Children | Image Guided Therapy Suite

Renovation
The image guided therapy (IGT) suite is a sophisticated imaging facility integrated with a skilled surgical practice for the delivery of image-guided and minimally invasive procedures. The IGT suite is a self-contained unit and includes: a reception area; a five-stretcher prep and recovery area; a consultants' viewing area; a clean supply room; a sterilization room; and equipment rooms. Great care was taken to create an environment that is comfortable for and appealing to children and their parents through the use of form, light, texture and colour.

Cardiac Diagnostic and Interventional Unit

Renovation/Addition
The Cardiac Diagnostic and Interventional Unit (CDIU) at Toronto Sick Kids Hospital opened its doors to its first patients in June 2007. The first of its kind in Canada, the $9 million state-of-the-art project treats children with heart disease. Minimally invasive procedures performed eliminated the need for open-heart surgery. The Sick Kids Heart Centre has the largest paediatric interventional catheterization program in Canada and is a leader in Ontario for innovative procedures to treat complex cardiac conditions in children. The 18,000 sq ft space includes two bi-plane cardiac catheterization suites, an integrated I.G.T. MRI and post- anesthetic recovery area. Relationships of the catheterization suites and MRI to control and work-up rooms were imperative for clinical success.
