Ontario Realty Corporation | Guelph and Wellington County Consolidated Courthouse

Study Review
The Ministry of the Attorney General intended to consolidate two existing courthouse facilities for Superior Courts and Ontario Courts into one location in Guelph. The scope of work included a review of previous studies and reports, forecasting confirmation of judicial hearing room projections, facility programming, diagrammatic planning and massing options, planning analysis, policy review, real estate analysis, development of location criteria and risk analysis. The forecasting and program have established a need for a 20 courtroom facility of 190,00 sq. ft. As with the Brampton assignment, extensive stakeholder consultations were required in order to determine local trends affecting the required number of judicial hearing rooms, as well as, current pressures on project delivery and future operational requirements for a 25 year horizon. The program has received positive responses from the stakeholders, and in particular, from the judiciary.

Halton Region County Consolidated Courthouse

Study Review
The Ministry of the Attorney General intended to consolidate three existing courthouse facilities for Superior Courts and Ontario Courts into one location in Halton Region. The scope of work includes a review of previous studies and reports, forecasting confirmation of judicial hearing room projections, facility programming, diagrammatic planning and massing options, planning analysis, policy review, real estate analysis, development of location criteria and risk analysis. The forecasting and preliminary facility program have established a need for a 43 courtroom facility of 380,00 sq. ft. This is similar in size and scope to the current Brampton courthouse. The following assignments have been completed: planning analysis, policy review, real estate analysis, development of location criteria and forecasting projections. Extensive stakeholder consultations have taken place in order to determine local trends affecting the required number of judicial hearing rooms, as well as, current pressures on project delivery and future operational requirements for a 25 year horizon. Parkin and the programmer met with stakeholders including representatives of the judiciary (SCJ, OCJ, JP), court services, the Crown, police, victim witness services, external agencies and the law association.
